Just Call Me Blackgurl and don't ask me why

    Just know that my eyes are not the color of the sky

    My eye color is deep, a rich brown earth tone

    My complexion, no doubt, it's true to the bone

Just call me Blackgurl, listen closely as I speak

    Distinguished, so smooth, not proper but unique.

Just Call Me Blackgurl, I am different you see and

    I don't have a problem in just being me.  

Just call me Blackgurl, there's no disguise to what you see,

    I am Blackgurl and I love being me!

It Ain't Easy Being Me - My first poetry book, birthed from attending many open mics.  During a time when pain could have been my middle name.  My therapy was writing it out of my life.  I was raised around domestic violence.  Eventually raised in a single mother home in the hood.  I'm sure you know the rest.  It wasn't easy being me. 

Diary of a Blackgurl - My second book, a novel, written because the first book of poetry was just a summary of my life's pain thus far.   Unfortunately, it didn't get any better.  As a young wife and mother of two in the 90's and in a failing marriage, I was forced to overcome, break a family curse of pain that had been brought on by the dependency of irresponsible men.  

Just Being Me - It wasn't easy but I did it.  Finally, I learned to love and appreciate myself.  It didn't matter who said what or who thought what.  I finally knew who I was and more than that, I knew my worth.  I was also raising two mini size versions of myself, who I had to be an example to. 

Now here we are today, the girls are now young women and I am happily remarried having the time of my life!  I continue to write.  There are more stories to tell but on a happier note.  The upcoming book, "Happy Takes Time" is forthcoming.
